Housing Resettlement Worker - Private Rented Accommodation

SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment.

As a Housing Resettlement Worker, you will carry a mixed caseload of up to 26 people, who require support to move out of Lambeth hostels and into private rented accommodation and those who are in private rented accommodation and in need of support to sustain and manage their tenancy.

You will also undertake a range of activities with clients they have been assigned and will focus on identifying and developing a client’s ability to live independently, as well as to manage practical elements of independent living such as; paying rent, setting up and managing utilities, liaising with landlords and other agencies.

You will be skilled at delivering support to individuals through 1:1 key work sessions and group facilitation. You will also deliver this support in partnership with community agencies; ensuring successful resettlement into new accommodation.

To be successful for this post you will:

  • Have experience of and a working knowledge of the challenges facing individuals at risk of losing their homes.
  • Have excellent organisational skills, the ability to be self motivating, work under pressure and be able to prioritise different areas of work according to need.
  • Have the ability to lead and coordinate case reviews and liaise with a wide range of statutory agencies.
  • Have the creativity to plan and coordinate events and workshops with a focus on engaging those who are hard to reach in the community.
  • Have the aptitude and resilience to work within a changing and developing service.

Closing date for applications: 10am, 23rd September 2019

Interviews: 1st October 2019
