Interview date: 2/3 October 2019

Permanent, full-time 37 hours per week Monday to Friday

We are looking for an experienced manager to join the IT Service. This is a multi-skilled role, needing good team management, project management and development skills.

The IT Digital team and the IT Service at the council are seen as fundamental to the delivery of the councils digital ambitions. The Digital Programme is designed to transform services and how we work with our local community. It is an ambitious programme looking at internal and external service delivery. The IT Digital Manager will be instrumental to the success of the programme by ensuring that adequate resources are available for the programme and internal IT projects.

The IT Digital team is made up of IT developers and systems administrators for key corporate applications. You will be responsible for the day to day management of the team and related IT projects, utilising both internal and external resources. Good awareness of using Prince 2 or Agile Project methodologies will be beneficial, as would experience of Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint, Teams, MS SQL Server, and .Net.

You will be able to work across all levels of the organisation, communicating and translating business requirements to technical requirements and be able to explain technical details in a non-technical way.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you will work closely with the Programme Manager for Digital and Smarter Ways of Working to develop the IT work programme to support the delivery of the Digital Programme, as well as managing a small portfolio of IT specific projects. This will include working with the IT Team, Transformation and Improvement team and users to produce of PIDs and plans, and monitoring and reporting on project performance.

We offer flexible working, generous leave entitlement, free parking (subject to a waiting list), pension scheme and access to a health care cash plan scheme - just some of the many reasons why you should come and work for us.

The council signs up to the Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the ‘Two Ticks’ scheme). If you have declared a disability on the application form we can guarantee you an interview if you meet the essential criteria for the job.

If you are passionate about delivering IT solutions in local government that benefit service teams and service users, then please apply.
