Contracts and Compliance Officer – Leisure and Culture

If you have experience of contract management and have worked in the leisure and culture industry, we want to hear from you.

As Contracts and Compliance Officer for leisure and culture, you will be responsible for monitoring the major outsourced leisure contracts that make up the majority of the council’s leisure offer. The role sits within the leisure department but works closely with the central commissioning and business improvement section, to ensure that outsourced services, like running Maidstone Leisure Centre and the Hazlitt Theatre, are being delivered effectively.

This involves regularly visiting the different sites, monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation, building relationships with colleagues across the council and the supplier organisations, investigating complaints, gathering and analysing performance data and writing reports.

At a time of growth for the area, Maidstone Borough Council’s leisure services play a significant role in ensuring a vibrant leisure and cultural offer for residents and visitors.

Obviously, you will need good organisational and communication skills and knowledge of the leisure industry. You’ll also be flexible, conscientious and able to work on your own initiative to monitor contracts in terms of performance and statutory compliance.
