Tandridge District Council is looking for an experienced local government finance specialist to join the Council’s high profile finance team. This exciting role is Finance Specialist – Capital Accountant.
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer (S151) your role will be to manage the Council’s capital programme and provide strategic financial advice and guidance to Members, Directors and key business partners within the Council. There will also be close contact with capital budget managers as well as developing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and partners outside of the Council. You will also be required to provide support to the Treasury Management function in terms of borrowing for capital investment and development of capital strategies.
The Council has a strong record of sound financial stewardship and recently received an unqualified opinion on its Statement of Accounts and value for money conclusion. The Council also set a 2019/20 Budget which was agreed unanimously by Members. The Finance Team is looking to enhance its skill-base and further improve its service and this postholder will be a key player in this role.
To be considered for the role you must be a fully qualified accountant with significant financial management experience, most of which would have been gained in the local government sector – exceptionally a candidate who can demonstrate ‘qualification by experience’ will be considered. Experience of working in capital finance is essential for this role. You will be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder skills, strong communication and presentation skills you will also have an outstanding track record in delivering a customer focused service. You will have a strong track record of finance experience in areas such as capital, budgeting, closing of accounts and treasury management.
