Join Brent Council's Building Control Service, based in our award-winning Civic Centre, with views of Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena and with the London Designer Outlet all right next door. We have a wealth of exciting challenges for part qualified / qualified and experienced Building Control surveyors in our multi-disciplinary service. You will also be expected to support the development of additional services for our major clients.
Located right in the heart of the Wembley regeneration area and working throughout Brent (and also across London and with major developers / contractors on Partnership schemes) we require an additional 3 Building Control surveyors to supplement the existing Major Projects and District teams. You will be responsible for assisting Senior / Principal BCO’s, delivering effective Building Control services and providing helpful advice / guidance to our clients on various domestic, commercial, mixed-use and complex high rise projects. This will be an excellent opportunity to build on your existing qualifications and experience working alongside Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Structural Engineers and supporting the Building Control Management Team.
The successful candidate will be expected to have the knowledge, experience and abilities to hit the ground running and be confident in handling complex and varied workloads. Primarily involved with managing and prioritising their Building Regulation workloads, the post also requires knowledge of dealing with the full range of Building Control functions including enforcement, dangerous structures, demolitions and will be expected to contribute to provision of additional services to our clients.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, flexible, forward thinking, ambitious and customer focused surveyors with relevant Building Control knowledge and experience of dealing with Building Regulation applications at Plan Check and Site Inspection stages.
You will be an effective communicator with all stakeholders, technically sound with ability to promote and represent the Building Control service with stakeholders. Your main focus will be to support and assist the team in delivering projects on time, on budget, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and other statutory requirements, providing technical input to successfully develop the skills within the team as well as offering advice and guidance to major developers and contractors.
The candidate should be qualified to degree level in a construction related degree or BTEC Higher qualification. Interim grade appointments are based on progression and experience. Appointment to the highest scale will depend on you being professionally qualified to RICS, CABE or working towards a professional qualification. Any additional specialist qualification or ability to contribute to provision of additional services is desirable.
