Castle Point Borough Council is located in South Essex at the heart of the Thames Gateway
South Essex, between Basildon and Southend.
We are seeking to recruit a confident, highly motivated Finance professional to fulfil the role
of Deputy s151 Officer and to manage the Financial Services Team.
The duties of this post include taking a leading role in financial planning, monitoring and
reporting and provision of financial support and advice across the organisation.
The post-holder will work closely with the Section 151 Officer and will lead the team through
a full budget-setting process and work towards delivering ambitious and critical savings
targets across the Council. You will need to hold a CCAB qualification and have at least
three years post qualification experience, working at a senior level within local government.
In addition, the ideal applicant will possess:
- An understanding of accounting principles including budget monitoring, estimating
- Excellent management skills;
- The ability to research and present complex regulatory and operational issues;
- The ability to prioritise workload, project manage and maintain professional
standards under pressure;
- The ability to negotiate effectively at all levels;
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word;
- The ability to demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy.
Attendance at evening committee meetings will also be a requirement.
