Working to prevent homelessness for those threatened with homelessness, and to relieve homelessness for those who are without a home, you will deal with both emergency situations, wider homelessness issues and deal with a caseload providing housing options, advice and assistance to our customers. You will also help develop and enhance the range of housing options with a number of external agencies and internal contacts, with a priority on preventing and relieving homelessness, in line with the amendments implemented by the Homelessness Reduction Act.

With experience of working in the housing sector, you will have a good knowledge of current homelessness legislation, be experienced and skilled in dealing with people in stressful situations; and will also have the ability to work effectively within our housing options and wider housing needs team. You will be able to negotiate with excluders and landlords to prevent or delay eviction, work with customers to find alternative housing and arrange emergency housing for those to whom the Council owes a duty. We would welcome applications from those with experience in private sector tenancy relationship advice.

The ability to converse at ease with team members and clients in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
