We are looking for an Engineer to assist in the feasibility, design and supervision of civil engineering projects, in the control, management and design of Borough funded land drainage works and to assist with the planning, flood warning and flood risk management aspects of land drainage within the Borough. This position is on a career grade and starting salary and progression will depend on experience and qualifications.
You will also be working on other civil engineering projects such as identifying improvements/maintenance works within the town centres, assisting with the installation and maintenance of street furniture, and liaising with other sections of the Council on all aspects of civil engineering, drainage and flood risk management.
You should have a degree or HNC in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, and have some experience in preparing construction and/or drainage projects. Experience in assessing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) for proposed developments would be an advantage. If you are already a full Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, or another relevant body, this will be an advantage as will experience in supervising construction sites and a good understanding of Local Government.
Computer literate with good presentation skills and conversant with packages of AutoCAD, GIS would be beneficial. You will also be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Ideally you will have experience of technical and committee report writing.
