Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are committed to becoming the best planning authority in Hertfordshire. To achieve this, we’re seeking driven and ambitious planners, who really want to leave their mark on the garden city. As part of this vision, we have a great opportunity for a talented Principal Major Developments Officer.
As a key member of our major development team, you’ll enjoy a varied, dynamic case load with a chance to work on both rural and urban projects. Our new Local Plan is currently in examination and aims to deliver major growth across the borough. You’ll play a vital role in this, with the opportunity to contribute to major planning applications that really shape Welwyn Hatfield. We’ll therefore expect you to have strong development management experience, a methodical style of working and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
We’ll also look to you to manage and mentor our team of planning officers and support them in a wide range of planning applications. Experience in staff management and project management will really help you with this, as will your commitment to delivering high quality developments.
As our Principal Major Developments Officer, you’ll join a forward-thinking council that puts their customers first. We know that in order to provide the best for our residents and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where our people feel safe, content and valued. From a generous annual leave entitlement, to flexible working and opportunities to buy and sell leave, our benefits package provides a great work life balance.
If you are interested in working in a high-performance authority and helping to shape our New Town and Garden City environments, we want to hear from you.
