Senior Business Rate Officer

Grade: SO2 – £31,548 - £33,291

Contract Type: Permanent/Full-Time

You will play a Senior role in supporting the business rate team leader and a team of collection officers in recovering business rate arrears and Income maximisation. Working in line with national and corporate policies, procedures and legislative requirements, the post holder will need to understand and be responsive to customer needs, presenting a positive and professional image to the customer at all times whilst ensuring effective engagement with all stakeholders. Experience in at least one area of presenting cases at Court or Valuation Tribunals, Valuation work and Insolvency as well as identifying properties is needed to successfully carry out this role.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring challenging business rate collection targets are met, make decisions regarding potential eligibility to exemptions and reliefs, respond to business rate complaints and conduct staff one to ones and other performance monitoring tasks.
