OneSource provides a shared fraud service that brings together the experience, ideas and resource in the Boroughs of Havering, Newham & Bexley to combat fraud against the Council and best protect the public funds.
All three authorities work together to provide an effective investigation and preventative fraud service; we are excited to be growing our team and in order to help us reach our goals we are recruiting a Fraud Investigator.
Grade 8 - £39,774 - £43,590pa
We require an experienced investigator with high standards and innovative thinking that is looking for a challenge and to push themselves in the public sector fraud space.
The Fraud Investigator role will be proactive in identifying and investigating tenancy fraud, corporate fraud and non-benefit related frauds committed against the Council.
You will be expected investigate and manage complex investigations, to prepare fraud cases for criminal prosecution, civil action and/or disciplinary procedures where required.
There will be opportunities to be involved/lead in fraud training and proactive projects
ACFS accreditation or equivalent qualification
Up to date professional and technical expertise in relation to fraud
Experience of carrying out investigations with minimal supervision, including Interviews under caution and preparing material for disciplinary hearings or criminal proceedings
Experience in investigating Housing Fraud is desirable.
Experience in using Open Source Intelligence.
Acts as a team player and shows initiative.
Shows and can demonstrate drive and enthusiasm for an investigative role
The successful candidate will be expected to have an excellent working knowledge of and be able to investigate all cases within the guidelines as set out by the Criminal Procedure’s and Investigations Act 1996 and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. A good working knowledge of the Housing Act 1985, Human Rights Act 2000 and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
