Salary Range: £26,999 - £38,813 PA, plus £2,000 annual market forces payment
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent /Fixed Term Contract for a year

Job Duties:

As part of Hertfordshire’s Specialist Services, we in the Fostering Service are on a journey to be the “best we can be”. You will become part of a leading Children’s Service, who was rated by Ofsted in November 2018 as delivering ‘Good’ outcomes for children, with a tangible commitment to continuous improvement. South fostering team plays a key role in the recruitment, assessment, training, support & supervision of foster carers to provide placements for vulnerable children.

We are seeking 2 professionally qualified social workers, registered with HCPC, who have demonstrable post qualification experience of working with children and young people. You will need to be familiar with TSD standards and have a comprehensive knowledge of the fostering regulations and legislation. Direct experience of working within a Fostering Service is not essential, but confident assessment skills, an ability to engage and communicate with children/carers alongside a sound understanding of safeguarding and forensic risk assessment are key requirements.

You will be training, assessing, supervising & supporting foster carers, to ensure that children in care are provided with high quality placements which meet their complex needs.  The Fostering Service strives to promote a therapeutic and trauma-informed service, with the   principles of the ARC (Attachment, regulation and competency) framework principles underpinning its practice. There will be the opportunity to work closely with other professionals and services to contribute to effective care planning for children.

You will need to be flexible, able to complete assessments within required timescales & provide regular supervision and support to a caseload of foster carers. You will contribute to the delivery of training and group work for foster carers, take part in the team’s duty system and be involved in arranging annual events for carers and children. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in wider service-improvement projects as part of the ‘Good to Great’ programme.

In return for this we offer supportive management, regular supervision and access to training and shared learning. This is in addition to the wider range of benefits available to Hertfordshire employees.

Closing Date: 24th October 2019
Interview Date: 31st October 2019/ 1st November 2019
