About us

The Public Health team delivers and commissions a wide range of services to improve the health and wellbeing of Hertfordshire residents including sexual health services, drug and alcohol services, health visiting, school nursing, mental health promotion and weight management. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our busy team.

The role

Under the guidance of the Health Improvement Leads in Public Health (Sexual Health/Drug & Alcohol) you will Support the delivery of key actions within the Sexual Health and Drug and Alcohol strategies across Hertfordshire. This will involve close working with the wider public health team and external partner agencies, including Drug and Alcohol treatment providers and Sexual Health services, Primary and Acute Care Services.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone with a degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in public health, along with previous experience of working with a range of partners and within local communities, and knowledge of current policy and evidence around Sexual Health and Drugs and Alcohol prevention initiatives. A commitment to working collaboratively, the ability to work as part of a team and a passion for promoting good health and wellbeing are essential.You will be able to work with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels and a professional and approachable manner is vital as are strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to influence across a range of sectors.

You will be highly motivated, able to use your initiative when appropriate, and have a proven track record of delivering multi-agency programmes and engaging a range of public sector organisations. You will have the flexibility to work on a variety of different projects at any one time, prioritising your work and managing tight deadlines, and delivering outcomes.

You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and have excellent presentation skills

This role is available as a fixed term contract, or as a secondment for existing employees of HCC, district and borough councils or the NHS.
