More Information

Assistant Director Resources and S151 Officer

The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk is a district council covering a large geographical area, with a reputation for delivering results and for offering excellent career development opportunities to our staff.

If you are a talented finance manager, looking for a varied and challenging workload, this is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and experience within our newly-formed team of Assistant Directors.

Supporting a small Senior Management Team to deliver the council’s corporate objectives, you will have the opportunity to contribute your financial expertise to a unique range of projects and initiatives, including our major house building programme, our growing group of wholly-owned council companies and a range of major investment and development schemes.

As Chief Financial and S151 Officer for the council you will ensure that we make the most of our resources to deliver the best possible services to residents, businesses and visitors to West Norfolk.  This will include direct line management of the Financial Services Team with whom you will formulate and deliver our financial plans.

You will also have line management responsibility for the experienced service managers who lead Revenues and Benefits, ICT and Internal Audit.

This will enable you to use your existing management expertise to co-ordinate these services and their contribution to the council’s priorities.

You must be CIPFA qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience and an up-to-date knowledge of finance within a local government context, including awareness of relevant legislation and the challenges that savings targets bring.  As such you may already be a Deputy S151 Officer looking to make your next move or an experienced S151 Officer seeking wider management experience within an authority that values collaboration and innovation.
