This post offers an exciting opportunity to enter into the leisure industry.

Award winning Salt Ayre Leisure Centre, has the latest in fitness and training equipment, an indoor adventure play area and indoor and outdoor climbing facilities. Not to mention an immersive spinning studio and dedicated training zone.

In your role you will be responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining the smooth running of the state of the art Leisure Centre. You will be dedicated in delivering an excellent customer experience for all our established and new customers. Supervising the swimming pool and flume, setting up and cleaning equipment for a wide range of sporting activities will be some of your day-to-day duties.

You will be the face of the Leisure Centre and it is a great opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, passionate and vibrant team. You will be confident and outgoing, as your duties will include organising school holiday events and children’s birthday parties. You will also be expected to work in other areas of the leisure centre after appropriate training

A NPLQ lifeguard qualification is essential for this position. At the interview stage, you will be required to carry out a pool test so you will need to be able to swim.

Working hours will be offered on a casual basis and will include evenings and weekends. As a casual worker, you will be paid only for the hours that you work.  The nature of casual work means that there is no mutuality of obligation.  This means that the Council is not obliged to offer you any hours and neither are you obligated to accept any hours offered. The Council cannot guarantee that work will be available every week. This post is based at Salt Ayre Leisure Centre

An enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service is essential.

Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
