Are you an exemplar leader in the business intelligence field who can drive and champion innovative practice? Do have a passion for finding new and interesting ways of presenting insights? Do you want to be part of our journey to become a leading council? If so we want to hear from you!

We are establishing a new Business Intelligence team and we're looking for exceptional, forward-thinking candidates to help us become a cutting-edge data driven organisation. We see this as integral to supporting significant transformation across the council – and with partners - while reducing costs, increasing efficiency and ensuring services meet the needs of residents and service users.

At Surrey, our vision is to help create better lives, a better place and a county where no-one is left behind.

To deliver the vision we are committed to changing and radically improving the council's culture, approach and performance, putting residents' current and future needs first.

About the team

The Business Intelligence team's mission is to work in partnership with others to transform the way information, analysis and insight is provided to the council to enable more effective decision-making, helping to achieve the ambitions set out in the Organisation Strategy and the Community Vision for Surrey in 2030. Performance data is a vital part of running a high performing organisation and we strive for excellence in performance management and champion open data.

About the role

The Head of Business Intelligence will lead and inspire the team – and others across the council - in developing a vision for innovative corporate performance and business intelligence activity, ensuring high quality, comprehensive and accurate data is accessible to decision makers.

In this role you will provide leadership and expertise – drawing on both your own and your team's strengths – to drive innovative approaches to performance management and business intelligence. You will work with the council's leadership team to refine a framework for ensuring we've got our eye on the right things to support our ambition to be a high performing council. You'll also work with others across the council – and with partners - to develop and implement systems and processes to provide real insight aligned to business outcomes and the needs of residents.

You will have a proven track-record of leading business intelligence and/or performance management activity within a complex organisation, and know how to embed a culture of high performance. You're a strategic planner, adept at explaining key performance metrics and trends with clarity in a way people understand and have a passion for finding new and interesting ways of presenting insights to stakeholders.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work at pace, be innovative and have a genuine interest in making a difference and real change for the people of Surrey. You'll have the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and the confidence to challenge the status quo.

We're excited to hear from individuals who are experienced and exemplary leaders in the business intelligence field who can drive and champion innovative practice in this strategic and influential role.
