This is a redefined and varied role in the Policy and Environment Team within the wider Economy and Growth Unit.


The Team are responsible for the preparation of the Council’s Local Plan, supporting design and policy guidance, conservation area designation and appraisal and planning related monitoring. 


The post holder will support the work of the team providing specialist GIS mapping, planning monitoring and administrative support. They will take a leading role on managing the Local Plan consultation database and in collecting, analysing and presenting statistics for planning policy monitoring work, including in producing the Council’s annual Monitoring Report (AMR).


Applicants must have experience of GIS, planning monitoring or specialist planning administration work and as a minimum must be able to operate a GIS system. Ability to effectively use IT systems including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access Databases (or equivalent) to enter, retrieve and analyse data and perform calculations is also essential.


Applicants must have an understanding of GIS mapping systems and their use in planning and be qualified to at least ONC/D level in an appropriate subject. Ideally, they will have a degree or postgraduate qualification in GIS or computer sciences.


Applicants must have the ability to work methodically and accurately with minimum supervision.
