Neighbourhood Warden Supervisor

Horsham District Council is looking for a Neighbourhood Warden Supervisor to provide operational line management of the team of 14 Neighbourhood Wardens across the district. The Supervisor is a member of the council’s Community Safety team.

As Neighbourhood Warden Supervisor you will manage the Sussex Police accredited Neighbourhood Wardens in close liaison with Parish and Neighbourhood Councils to ensure the schemes are operating to a high level.  You will attend regular Steering Group meetings and ensure the wardens are working to the priorities set by the Parish and Neighbourhood Councils and that they, in return, are satisfied with the service.  Working closely with the emergency services and other agencies regarding the Community Safety Partnership priorities and projects, you will ensure the key priorities are being met.

You will be based out in the field and will work 5 shifts on a rota basis across a 7 day pattern, including some evenings and weekends, in order to work alongside the wardens. You will be fully trained as a police accredited Neighbourhood Warden (training provided) in order to cover some warden absences, when necessary.

To succeed as a Neighbourhood Warden Supervisor you will have substantial supervision or line management experience and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people. You will be able to quickly identify problems or issues and use your initiative to find a solution. Possessing good written communication skills, a competent IT user, excellent organisational skills, a confident manner and an analytical mind, you will be able to bring these to bear in order to successfully achieve your remit.

Horsham District Council encourages and supports professional development and offers a generous benefits package to support your work life balance. This includes 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, flexible working arrangements, access to wellbeing services, and a staff benefits platform featuring many discounts from the high street.

Those applicants invited for interview will be asked to complete a psychometric assessment prior to interview.

The interview will take place on 2 separate days, the 29th November and the 4th December. If shortlisted it is mandatory to attend both days.
