£44,838-£50,711 per annum for 36 hours per week, based at Merrow Complex, Merrow Lane, Merrow, Guildford, Surrey GU4 7BQ.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that you have a full driving license and your own transportation, allowing you to undertake site visits across the County when required.

About the role

An opportunity has arisen within Surrey County Council's Highway Design & Delivery Team, based in Merrow, Guildford. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with relevant experience, who can make a valuable contribution towards improving the highway network.
Based within the Highway Design & Delivery Team, within the Local Highway Services Group, you will liaise with a broad range of other partners and stakeholders, acting on behalf of the Client organisation.
The dynamic team focuses on designing and implementing highway improvements, to programme and budget, whilst at the same time providing technical advice and guidance across the whole of the Highways Service and to other partners (e.g. Districts and Boroughs).

The Role

The Engineering Project Manager will provide effective leadership, direction, and project/contract management to a multi-disciplinary professional project team, to ensure the effective delivery of major Engineering Projects through external supply chain partners or through specified procured contracts, including NEC & TPC. The post holder will act as the Client Representative / Engineer for the Works / Contract Manager under various forms of Engineering contracts to ensure projects are designed, programmed, procured and delivered to best practice standards and lowest achievable cost. They will also manage and mitigate risk and ensure all contract and legal obligations are met, including the CDM legislation.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position, your application will clearly evidence:

  • Degree/ HNC or equivalent, or substantial relevant experience in a relevant subject area.
  • Substantial practical or professional experience and understanding of engineering project management and the New Engineering Contract.
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles and techniques to a wide range of complex projects or programmes.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven written and oral communication with the ability to influence and work in collaboration with others.
