We are an award winning Council having achieved the Guardian Public Service Awards 2016, and recently being one of the few organisations in the country to be awarded and retain Investors in People Platinum status. Now is an exciting time to join the organisation as we embark on progressing to the next level of our ambitious adventures, helping shape the workforce development plan for the next five years.

As part of our commitment towards our ambitions, we have recently restructured our senior management team, and subsequently the HR team, creating both this new HR Business Partner role for which we are seeking two individuals, and a new role of Learning & Development Advisor. So, it’s an exciting time for us as a Council right now, and it’s a great time to be joining us.

The People

Over the last year there been a significant number of changes; we appointed a new HR Manager in April 2019 and through this new structure we have created these three new posts. The Role

We are recruiting for two HR Business Partners, who will partner not only with services in the organisation but will work collaboratively with the HR Officer that they will line manage.

One Business Partner and HR Officer will support:

  • People and Places
  • Customer & Resources
  • Planning & Regulatory Services

The other HR Business Partner will support:

  • Finance & Trading
  • Transformation & Strategy
  • Commercial & Property

This is a hands on role where you will be expected to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy and service to deliver all elements of the employee lifecycle. You will enjoy reviewing and improving processes and procedures and will thrive on the challenge of balancing to day to day work with HR projects.

Reporting to the HR Manager you will be responsible for ensuring all key HR tasks are delivered in a fast-paced and challenging environment where you will need to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

You will be comfortable working in an environment with a variety of departments and key stakeholders, who will expect you to be decisive, creditable and have strong relationship building skills as well as taking a creative approach to problem solving.

You will also be providing leadership, coaching and professional development. The team and your peers will look to you for inspiration and to help deliver high quality work.

Our new structure is designed on the basis of providing opportunity and development from a graduate trainee through to the HR Manager. As the HR Business Partner, the technical knowledge for the role is assumed, as is your experience operating at a higher level. But, we are looking for people with the right approach, attitude and passion for the profession, with a strong team focused work ethic. Where: You will be based at our main offices at Argyle Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN131HG, a short ten minute walk from Sevenoaks train station, alternatively you could drive and park in our free staff car park. You will be expected to travel between Argyle Road and our other sites such as our Depot in Dunbrik and neighboring authorities such as Dartford Council offices on occasion.
