Consultant in Public Health

The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is a leading local authority; combining history, heritage and rural settings with town centre regeneration, improving transport connectivity and vibrant communities. Our council tax is the lowest in the country outside of London and our residents expect the highest quality services to ensure Windsor and Maidenhead continues to thrive and be a special place to live, work and visit.

Over the last year, we have firmly established our commissioning function bringing together commissioning for adults, children and public health. We are now looking for a Consultant in Public Health with the energy and drive to take forward the public health agenda in the borough, as well as making a significant contribution to the Frimley Integrated Health and Care System.

Leading a small team in the Royal Borough, you will be supported by a shared team and Strategic Director of Public Health who work across all six Berkshire authorities. You will be able to focus on the Royal Borough but there will be lots of opportunities for partnership working and system leadership across broader areas.

This role will enable you to rapidly advance your career and is ideally suited to anyone aspiring to Director roles in the future. As part of a small professional cohort, you will be able to gain wide-ranging exposure, system leadership experience and to engage in work that has a far-reaching impact in the Royal Borough’s communities. You will be able to work creatively and use your initiative. At the same time, there is impetus to make your ideas happen and investment in training to give you all the support you need.

Join us and we will offer you not only a competitive salary, but a wide range of other employee benefits including discounts at major retailers and cinemas, a generous leave entitlement, employee assistance, opportunities for flexible working as well as training and career development.

For an informal conversation about this exciting new role, contact Hilary Hall on 01628 683893 or by email at

The council is set in a major tourism area with tourist attractions including Windsor Castle, Legoland and Ascot Racecourse and with the Royal Family on the doorstep, this is a good place to live and work. There are excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, with the new Elizabeth Line opening in Maidenhead soon.
