Pension Benefits Team Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to lead our Benefits Team to deliver a high quality pensions administration service to all stakeholders. This is a truly exciting time to join the manager cohort at South Yorkshire Pensions Authority as we move into a new phase of innovation and an ambitious agenda of continuous improvements to enhance the services we provide to our customers.

We are a growing public sector organisation with a team of around 100 staff who run the workplace pension scheme on behalf of a large number of employing organisations, including Local Authorities and other public bodies, educational institutions and a number of charitable organisations.

You will be responsible for setting the work agenda for a team of approximately 30-40 staff and overseeing the effective delivery of all target areas for driving efficiency, managing the Authority’s casework and ensuring employers complete their responsibilities to enable casework to be completed in line with member’s expectations.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, (or have significant vocational experience evidencing development in a series of progressively more demanding roles), you will also have detailed knowledge and experience of administering a defined benefit pension scheme and its statutory requirements. 

You will need to evidence significant work experience at a management level and a track record in managing workloads against service level targets.
