Then join Shelter as a HR Operations Payroll Assistant and you could soon be providing vital administrative and processing support across Shelter’s HR Operations, Payroll and Recruitment teams.

About the Role

Day-to-day, you’ll get involved in a variety of tasks that will help ensure the smooth running of all of our HR processes. As well as processing payroll for two pay runs (one for Shelter and one for our Shops), we’ll rely on you to accurately enter confidential information into our HR Information System. Working closely with our outsourced payroll agency is essential in ensuring the data is correct as is investigating to resolve queries. And, when it comes to dealing with telephone, written and face-to-face enquiries, we’ll be counting on your excellent customer service skills and professionalism. Processing starters and leavers, carrying out terms and conditions process changes, ensuring employee files are complete and maintaining office systems all are aspects of this interesting and varied role.

About you
You’ll need experience of working as a payroll assistant or administrator and an understanding of queries relating to SMP, SSP, TAX & NI and ensuring the correct statutory regulations are applied. You’ll also need a proven ability to collate reports with sensitive / confidential information. Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel (with good practical knowledge of vlookups and pivot tables), SharePoint, Outlook and the internet is essential too. Commercially aware and great at building a network of good relationships, you're also keen to develop a thorough understanding of the organisation and the wider sector. What’s more, you’re creative and innovative and not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes when appropriate.
