We’re looking for a highly motivated Defects Manager to join our team to oversee defect management within our new developments. You’ll lead a team of Defects Co- ordinators to successfully resolve defects within the defects liability period (DLP). You’ll be responsible for ensuring customers have a positive experience of living in a NHG new home.
This is a challenging and rewarding role but also a great opportunity to redefine how the organisation manages defect resolution whilst providing a great experience for customers. Experience of defect resolution, the construction process and contract management is therefore vital in this role as well as the ability to quickly identify issues and negotiate successful outcomes.
As you’ll play a key role in creating a new team and implementing a new way of working, you will need to collaborate with front line teams, technical experts in other directorates and the Head of Post Construction Services to develop robust processes and procedures for defect resolution.
You will provide leadership and support to a team of five Defects Co-ordinators making sure that defects are resolved on our schemes. As a people manager you’ll use your coaching skills to get the best from your team. You will provide support on complex cases as well as ensuring that Defects Co-ordinators are meeting KPIs in regards to defect management.
You will be required to provide regular reports to senior managers on defect performance. Using your analytical skills you’ll identify and report on defect trends, identifying sub- standard performance. You will be responsible for ensuring any performance issues with contractors are appropriately managed to ensure issues are dealt with quickly and effectively.
In this role you’ll need to build excellent relationships as you’ll be the key liaison with warranty providers and other professional bodies on resolution of defects; therefore you’ll need to be knowledgeable and credible. Alongside this you’ll work with colleagues to hold our contractors and consultants to account, while maintaining awareness of the sensitivities of existing relationships. You’ll make sure compliance with our contracts and employers requirements are adhered to so you’ll need to have the aptitude to understand technical documents.
Our customers are vitally important to us at NHG so you will monitor customer satisfaction, identify ways to improve our service offer and implement these ideas. You’ll lead by example and create a customer focused culture within the team.

You will be required to deputise for the Head of Post Construction Services from time to time and will therefore need to be confident in communicating and influencing across all levels.
Salary: £43,541 - £48,379
