Strategic Housing and Development Manager

We are looking for an experienced manager with a strong understanding of current national housing policy issues and the ability to transform this into effective local strategies. You will work with private and public sector partners to develop and deliver a housing strategy that makes the most of development opportunities and local resources and puts the wellbeing of residents at its core.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop a new strategic approach to housing in Woking, working in collaboration with other local authorities, housing providers, developers and partners to increase the delivery of new affordable homes.

Offering a fresh and innovative approach, you will be formulating strategies and policies in relation to all areas of housing and be a key member of the Council’s Housing Leadership Team.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take two flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

Under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, this post is politically restricted and you will be disqualified from being a Councillor, Member of Parliament or Member of the European Parliament. The regulations restrict the post holder from undertaking canvassing on behalf of a political party or a person who is or seeks to be a candidate or speaking to the public at large or publishing any written or artistic work that could give the impression that they are advocating support for a political party.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Louise Strongitharm (Director of Housing) on 01483 743599.

Interview Date: Friday 17th January 2020 (may be subject to change)
