Salary: NS11 - £31,371 - £32,878 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing, Health Improvement and Community Relations Business Unit at Newark and Sherwood District Council for a highly motivated, resourceful and committed individual to join a dynamic and forward thinking team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing community relations through a ‘place-based’ approach to develop inclusive engagement strategies with the intention of improving the health and wellbeing of residents across the District as detailed in the Council’s Community Plan 2019-2023

The successful applicant will be responsible for the line management of a small team of Community Relations Officers and the deployment of resources to deliver activity related to the provision of community engagement and development.  The role will involve building a network of local relationships with a wide range of partners including the statutory and business sectors to encourage and enable capacity building in the community and voluntary sector.

A key focus of the role will be to work collaboratively to engage vulnerable individuals/groups within the most deprived areas of the district in order to promote and facilitate improved relationships with the Council and its partners, ensuring equalities principles in delivery of initiatives to enable the achievement of a range of positive outcomes.

You will be located at Castle House, Newark and will be expected to work some evenings and weekends. Regular access to a vehicle is required for travel within and outside the district.

We are committed to building and maintaining a flexible, resilient and responsive workforce, who can support the needs of our residents.   Where practicable we will offer you flexibility in the way you work. We will consider suggestions for how the responsibilities of the role can be met through working different hours, days or in different locations.

Veterans/family of forces/ex-forces, those in care/care leavers, and candidates who declare a disability (as defined under the Equality Act 2010) will be guaranteed an interview provided they have demonstrated that they meet the essential criteria of the post as detailed in the Person Specification on their application form.
