PMO Project Manager

Are you an experienced project manager that wants to make a difference? Are you an effective communicator and change agent? Do you have a can-do attitude and lead by example?

The Project Management Office (PMO) is expanding in order to drive and deliver a project management approach across the Council, to support successful delivery of change by managing, monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects within the Council’s Project Portfolio. The Council’s project portfolio is broad and diverse including system upgrades and digital transformation to redevelopments, regeneration and community-focused projects.

The PMO Project Manager will provide expertise in project management across the Council’s Project Portfolio; ensuring effective project initiation, planning, delivery and closure on each project. You will help continually improve our project processes by challenging the status quo and championing organisational change and transformation.

You will develop a high profile in the organisation by leading, managing and delivering cross-organisational and complex projects and reviews sponsored by the Chief Executive. You will take responsibility end to end for successful project delivery or by supporting a Project Manager per se with advice and guidance throughout the project life cycle. You will help develop a community of practice and share your knowledge and experience through delivery of workshops and training sessions.

Applicants must hold certification in Prince2 (practitioner level) or equivalent project management methodology. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office packages are essential.

In return we offer an excellent benefits and conditions of service package including flexitime and incremental annual leave allowance.
