We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic apprentices to join the Leadership Office. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to start your career, get paid to do a real job, gain experience and work towards a nationally recognised Business Administration qualification.

Surrey County Council is undergoing a radical transformation programme across all directorates, led by our Corporate Leadership Team and elected Members. We are looking for two apprentices to join the newly formed Cabinet Support Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain work experience at the heart of local politics working with elected Cabinet Members whilst also working towards your apprenticeship qualification.

You will be part of the Leadership Office, which provides support to the Corporate Leadership Team and elected Cabinet Members. This is a fast paced environment where you can make a real difference to residents and communities in Surrey. You will be fully supported and mentored throughout your apprenticeship. This is a varied role and you will have the chance to make it your own, whilst we will provide you with all the knowledge and training you require to be successful. The work you do will reinforce your learning, providing evidence- based experiences to support your qualification.

You will be involved in diary and inbox management; organising events; general office management; meeting and greeting visitors; meeting support; and other ad hoc projects that interest you.

Whilst experience in Business Administration or Business Processes isn't essential to the position, we are looking for our new apprentices to have a can- do attitude and desire for continuous learning. To be shortlisted for interview for this position, your CV and personal statement should evidence:

  • Great attitude and passion about making a difference
  • Have two GCSEs grade A to C or equivalent, including Maths and English
  • Can provide excellent customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Are organised and able to undertake general administrative tasks
