Support and Engagement Team Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to lead our Support and Engagement team to provide technical pensions support to employers and scheme members, as well as the wider Pension Administration service.

This is a truly exciting time to join the manager cohort at South Yorkshire Pensions Authority as we move into a new phase of innovation and an ambitious agenda of continuous improvements to enhance the services we provide to our customers.

We are a growing public sector organisation with a team of around 100 staff who run the workplace pension scheme on behalf of a large number of employing organisations, including Local Authorities and other public bodies, educational institutions and a number of charitable organisations.

You will be responsible for setting the work agenda for a team of between five and ten staff and have responsibility for managing the actuarial valuation process and maintenance of the legal documentation required to manage employers entering and exiting the fund. You will also need to ensure that our own organisation and our pension fund employers abide by the Pensions Regulators Code of Conduct and are fully compliant with the statutory provisions of the LGPS and wider pensions legislation.

Educated to degree level or equivalent (or have significant vocational experience showing development in a series of progressively more demanding relevant work/roles), you will also have experience of interpreting technical guidance and being able to deliver complex technical training sessions in a manner which is understandable to the audience and will require strong presentational skills.

Previous management experience and an extensive knowledge of Pension Administration Systems are also key requirements of the role.

From flexible working to job sharing (where possible), we are committed to providing a healthy work life balance. You will benefit from 26 days annual leave, rising to a maximum of 35 days after ten years’ services, as well as the opportunity to join the generous local government salary related pension scheme.
