Consultant Social Worker -JCPIT

Job Title: Consultant Social Worker
Location: Welwyn Garden City,Hertfordshire
Salary Range:  £39,782 - £42,683 pa plus a £5000 market forces payment
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

We are seeking to recruit a Consultant Social Worker to join our Joint Child Protection Investigation Team.

The  Joint Child Protection Investigation Team is a multi-agency, co-located team of Social Workers and Police Officers, and is based  at police HQ in WGC.  The team covers the whole County, dealing with  Joint S.47 Investigations where a child or young person has been subjected to a physical assault (with injury), or sexual assault by a family member/carer, significant neglect or child death which is deemed to be suspicious.

This is an exciting opportunity for a committed, experienced and motivated senior social worker to shape children’s social work by working closely with management whilst holding a small case load  of complex work whilst transitioning into management.

The role  will include supporting less experienced members of the team, manging  the duty system on a rota basis, including facilitating strategy meetings and allocation of cases in the absence of the team manager, providing management cover as appropriate,  personal supervision of Children’s Practitioners, taking a lead in practice development, and supporting the team manager.

To become a Consultant Social Worker within the team you will be expected to already have substantial Safeguarding experience, with  experience of undertaking Assessments under S.47.  You will use this advanced expertise and knowledge to respond, with Police colleagues to the most vulnerable children in immediate risk of significant harm.
