Reading Support Assistant

Reading Support Assistant (RSA) Mornings (8.30a.m to 1.30p.m) - Permanent Position

Wooden Hill Primary and Nursery School is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Reading Support Assistant to join their dynamic team. The support staff at Wooden Hill School have specific roles, which enhance the learning by supporting a particular aspect of teaching and learning. Support staff are no longer expected to cram many things into their day’s work, with the frustration of feeling that it’s had little impact, but instead have clear and precise job descriptions and a sense of satisfaction of a job well done, knowing that they have made a difference.

Reading Support Assistant

This role is to support reading across the school in years 1-6. It includes listening to individual readers, working with groups of children to support reading, delivering phonics to individuals and groups of children as well as administering reading tests and ensuring that children’s reading at home is recorded and celebrated.

The successful candidare will also be required to work at lunchtime assisting in the smooth running of our lunch breaks.

Please note: During the current COVID restrictions our Support Staff are required to work flexibily, working in a class bubble supporting the Class Teacher. This will apply to this role until such time as our Risk Assessment allows working across the school.

 We can offer you:

  • a large, strong, committed and supportive staff team
  • happy and enthusiastic children who are eager to learn
  • an exciting opportunity to contribute to a visionary and forward thinking school in its journey of growth
