(NCS) Youth Support Worker

NCS and the Role of the Youth Support Worker

National Citizen Service with YC Hertfordshire is a fantastic opportunity for 16 and 17 year-olds. It brings together young people from diverse backgrounds, providing them with an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience and the prospect of making a real difference in the world.

We are looking for seasonal team members to be NCS Youth Support Workers, willing to help guide young people every step of the way as they take on the NCS challenge, gain new skills and make new friends.

The NCS programme for a Youth Support Workers consists of a 3 or 4 week “Wave”:

Week 1 – Be Epic – a 5 day/4 night residential trip supporting young people as they take part in team-building and outdoor activities such as raft-building and high-ropes. You will be staying in either dorms or lodges.

Week 2 – Live Life – a 5 day/4 night residential stay in university-style accommodation helping young people develop life skills through bespoke workshops such as first aid and mental health awareness.

Week 3/4 – Do Good – Assisting young people at local venues while they plan, develop and deliver a community-based project that focuses on making a difference in their local area. These 1/2 weeks are non-residential so workers need to be able to independently travel to the relevant base location.
