Brighton and Hove Building Control are looking for a professionally qualified and experienced Principal Building Control Surveyor who is enthusiastic, motivated and hard working.

About the role

Principal Building Control Surveyor

M9  (39,782 - £42,683) plus £3k Market Supplement

You will be under the direction of the Building Control Manager, responsible for the efficient day to day management of the building control team, providing management support in ensuring a high-quality service. You will be working to grow new business opportunities and develop new innovative approaches, whilst at the same time, helping to ensure projects satisfy the Building Regulations.

You should have considerable experience working in building control with evidence of a high level of performance, showing experience of leading negotiations with senior professionals, including local authority officers, builders, developers and architects on schemes and applications of a complex nature, which should include commercial, retail, industrial, multi-use developments and high rise buildings.

You should be able to demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate and manage staff to sustain and improve the delivery of our service.

The successful candidate will have excellent skills in leading a building control team, with experience in supervising, motivating and managing staff to sustain and improve service delivery, whilst at the same time ensuring development of productive working relationships, providing support and assistance to other team members.

You should possess a proven record of achieving and maintaining accreditation to ISO:9001: 2018 Quality Management System so that the department is fully compliant when externally assessed.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
