An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Avon Fire and Rescue Service as a Community Safety Manager. This is a key role in our fire prevention and protection work and directly contributes towards reducing risks within the community. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of our Children and Young People intervention programmes.
This is a critical role in which you will be responsible for managing a team of individuals to promote and enhance community safety and life skills for children and young people. You will also manage the children and young people’s safeguarding procedures ensuring the service has robust procedures in place both internally and externally. You will ensure changes to legislation are implemented throughout the services work and support both national and regional working.
To be considered for this role you must be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject (for example; social work, community engagement, psychology, teaching or similar) or alternatively hold a professional qualification and accreditation with specific reference Community Safety.
You should possess recent middle management experience, preferably within the public sector and knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004 and its implications for Fire & Rescue Services as well as other related legislation and the impact this has upon children and young people. Knowledge of local and national education and health initiatives is also desirable.
Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The role will involve some evening working for which compensatory time off will be given.
