Technical and Administration Assistant (Planning)
Salary up to £20,875 p.a (dependent on experience)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our small and busy Planning administration team. This is a varied and interesting job which mainly provides administrative support to the team. There is the opportunity for the role to develop for an enthusiastic and efficient candidate beginning their career in local planning. The role is mainly office based but does require some basic planning visits on site.
The post-holder will undertake the following duties:
- Logging, validating and registration of planning applications
- Processing applications for lawful development certificates, which is a legal document issued by the Council (after mentoring)
- Answering the telephone and providing administrative support to Planning Officers
- Assist with administration of planning appeals
- Production of weekly planning list
- Production of monthly Planning and Regulatory Committee PowerPoint presentations.
The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work unsupervised, using initiative. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high standard of customer care, intermediate ICT skills and hold GCSE/’O’ Level passes or equivalent in English and Maths. Full training will be given, although it would be an advantage to have experience of working in a Planning Department, including interpreting plans. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
