Salary: £43,035 per annum

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is looking for a Team Leader to join the Mid Kent Environmental Health Service to cover maternity leave for the current post holder. We are a dynamic and forward-looking service responsible for a flourishing shared service for Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and Swale Borough Councils.

The successful candidate will be based in Tunbridge Wells and provide leadership to the Food & Safety team of 7 officers.

You will need to have experience of delivering food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control to high standards and experience of managing highly skilled and dedicated officers providing professional leadership across a wide range of situations. Experience of animal welfare would be useful.

You will have a positive outlook and willingness to embrace the changing regulatory landscape and implement innovative ideas to take the service forward.

We can provide you with a unique opportunity to work closely with the team leader at Sittingbourne to meet the needs of the service across the partnership. We will provide access to excellent internal management training to refresh and equip you with the skills needed to deliver high caliber management of the service. We also promote involvement with professional networks and specialised local training across Kent. The service seeks to promote a ‘one team’ ethos with regular joint team meetings and volunteering days with local environmental or charity groups.

Benefits include 26 days holiday (increasing to 29 days after five years, or 34 days after 30 years continuous Local Government service) and an additional £500 per annum essential car user allowance with free parking, flexi time, membership of the local government pension scheme, payment of professional membership fees.
