Southend-on-Sea is a place like no other. And what a place to live, work and play. A vibrant, entrepreneurial place, with a burgeoning cultural scene, we are also blessed with many of the things you would expect from a traditional seaside town, including a beautiful coastline, green open spaces and a variety of things to do and places to explore. It is no wonder that we welcome over 7.5 million visitors every year.
We are growing, modernising and transforming, as a place and as a Council. Our Southend 2050 Ambition sets a radical, new direction of travel, one which will ensure all Southenders live, learn and work in a prosperous, confident and well-connected city.
We are transforming and modernising digital and ICT at Southend, placing technology at the centre of delivering new and innovative services to residents, visitors and businesses. We are building a new, future proofed ICT organisation which will offer improved quality of business and IT engagement with colleagues and customers. The department will be customer centric, agile in delivery and viewed as trusted advisors, providing thought leadership and design thinking.
As Director of Digital & ICT you will, as Chief Information Officer for the Council, provide leadership to the ICT function, embedding the newly established ICT organisation and operating model, while evolving and maturing the capability. Your expertise and business acumen will bring significant added value to the ongoing transformation of Southend and to our delivery of the 2050 Vision.
This is a role for a business and change leader rather than a pure technologist, although you will need direct experience of leading and managing a range of ICT functions in a complex, multi-service environment. If you drive positive change, encourage innovation and deliver outcomes in a collaborative, commercial way, then come to Southend-on-Sea and help shape our city of the future.
