Job Details

Enfield’s Planning Service - looking for talented planners to help shape Enfield’s future

Enfield’s Planning Service is building its capacity to enable successful place-making in one of London’s most ambitious and fastest growing boroughs. Our multidisciplinary team is progressing a new Local Plan, which will help guide delivery of over 30,000 new homes alongside jobs, infrastructure, amenities and uses to support Enfield’s existing and future communities, and is taking a lead on enabling high quality design and proactively guiding schemes through the development management process.

Enfield is the first London borough to be awarded £156 million of funding from the government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund to unlock development and growth in our borough. We are energised and passionate about enabling successful places and supporting communities through planning and design.

We are looking to appoint a determined and self-motivated individual who can make a significant contribution to the newly formed Planning Service - a service that brings together development management, plan-making, infrastructure planning and design into one collaborative team.

We want to hear from applicants who can contribute positively to the work and culture of a growing, dynamic and ambitious team.

CIL & S106 Monitoring Officer

Grade: S01 (£29,766 - £30,708) (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated planning professional to join our Infrastructure Planning Team to help administer the borough’s ambitious infrastructure programme (including financial contributions from developments and other sources of funding) which will enable us to bring forward a pipeline of projects to support the future growth of the borough, ranging from major transport routes (e.g. Crossrail 2) through to schools, hospitals and playspaces.

The successful candidate will support the effective implementation, monitoring and review of the community infrastructure levy (e.g. Mayor of London) and section 106 agreements (including the collection and drawn down of funding) on behalf of the Planning Service.

You will work closely with other team members and various service areas (e.g. finance, legal and development management) to ensure that both financial and non-financial contributions can be secured to deliver projects in accordance with the regulations.

Other aspects of the role will include overseeing database systems, investigating potential breaches, issuing notices, organising consultation activities (e.g. neighbourhood CIL) and writing monitoring reports to inform the future allocation of funding.

Why it’s a great to work here:

  • An excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Up to 31 days annual leave depending on grade and length of service. You will also get eight public holidays per year and an extra day off at Christmas.
  • Interest free season ticket loan repayable over three or ten months.
  • Career development and learning experiences from a range of training courses and learning methods.
  • Employee assistance programme offering advice and counselling services. This is a free and confidential service available to staff and members of their family.
  • Health and leisure discounts and tax-free bikes for work.

We are passionate about our people and how we deliver services to our community in Enfield. That’s why we encourage a culture that puts our customers at the heart of everything we do - by empowering our people to work together to find solutions, be open, honest and respectful, take responsibility and listen and learn. If you value these behaviours too, we’d love to hear from you - and of course we are always happy to talk flexible working (click here to find out more).
