Fast-track your Career at Swindon Borough Council
Swindon is a vibrant and dynamic town undergoing some big changes and with major plans for growth. The Borough is 89 square miles in area, and currently home to about 225,000 people. We are making a major investment in our services to ensure that we can continue to plan positively for Swindon’s growth, to deliver high quality design and maintain a competitive and productive economy.
We are looking for a key individual, who would play a pivotal role in Technical Approvals and Adoptions of a range of highways projects, acting as a key member of the team to provide technical advice on a variety of highways schemes. This would include major infrastructure schemes and new estate roads for urban extensions to meet the demands of our significant demographic and economic growth forecast, and to provide a high quality service to all customers, both within and outside the Council.
This role will make a significant contribution in ensuring the new highway assets are fit for purpose today and for the future. As such, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that highway schemes are designed and implemented to the local and national technical requirements.
Given the scale and significance of our schemes, you will play a key part in putting Swindon on the map by increasing the profile of our town. This in turn will present openings to develop your personal profile and network.
This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual with a ‘can do’ attitude to be part of Swindon’s continuing success story. At the same time you’ll be a team player maintaining critical relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, partner organisations and developers.
In return we can offer a competitive salary, an agile working environment and a chance to be part of an ambitious Council which is at the forefront of public sector transformation.
Whilst you need not be a car owner, an ability to travel throughout the Borough to undertake site visits is essential.
Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
