This is a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Adult Care Worker Apprentice to join our Care and Support services at Central Bedfordshire Council. As an apprentice within our team, you will be offering person-centred support and care to vulnerable adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, frail and elderly and individuals living with Dementia. We have a number of adult residential homes and day centres around Central Bedfordshire. These are located in Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Leighton Buzzard, Silsoe, Flitwick, Biggleswade and Sandy.  This post is agile, and you will undertake two placements during the course of your apprenticeship, one placement working with older people and one placement working with Adults with Learning Disabilities.  

We would hope to accommodate your preferred locations, but it is essential you are able to travel independently to them.

 

As a Lead Adult Care Apprentice you will:

  • Support manage and assist our customers to participate/engage in social activities.
  • Develop your knowledge of shift management, care planning, medication management and staff support.
  • Complete customer assessments, care plans, be involved in the reviewing process and complete any other relevant documentation.
  • Manage/assist in keeping accurate, legible records in accordance with registration, legal and procedural requirements. (records may be recorded electronically or written)
  • Support the physical and emotional needs of customers to enable them to maintain maximum independence in a safe and secure environment.

As part of the Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship, you will:

 

  • Undertake the Level 3 Diploma in Care.
  • The Care Certificate
  • Achieve Level 2 English and maths prior to End Point Assessment. 
  • You will have access to a range of learning opportunities, including face to face learning, e-learning, tutorials and attend the corporate ‘My Apprenticeship’ days. 
  • You will be assigned a assessor who will support you throughout the apprenticeship, assess your work and practice. 

 

Due to the nature of the job role you must be 18 years and over.

Ideally, you will hold a Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care. Maths and English GCSEs at grades A* to C or 4 to 9 are desirable but not essential.  Where these qualifications are not achieved our apprentices will undertake Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship.                                                                                                                                             

 

You will be required to undertake an initial assessment as part of the interview if you do not already hold maths and English GCSE’s or equivalents.
