If you're an adaptable and highly organised Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives with experience of planning law and practice, you could play a key role at Horsham District Council.
We are looking for a creative and proactive Lawyer (Planning), to join our dynamic Legal Services Department. You will assist the Head of Legal and Democratic Services, to provide an efficient and economic legal service to the council in all matters pertaining to planning law and practice.
You will manage your own caseload giving legal advice to the Council and its officers and this will include the drafting and negotiation of complex s106 agreements, nomination agreements and enforcement notices. You will also be required to draft, prepare and comment on committee reports, policy documents and other briefing papers and to attend Planning Committees for the Head of Legal & Democratic Services. Clear advice should be given to Members and client departments on the impact of legislation and codes of practice and local policies.
You should have a systematic approach to your work and the proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Furthermore, you will be a confident IT user and be an excellent team player who can effectively deal with a range of people using clear, concise, modern and authoritative communication skills.
