Private Sector Housing Technician

£26,928 - £33,251 per annum inclusive of outer fringe allowance
37 hours per week

At Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, we take a huge amount of pride in the high quality of housing that is available to our residents. To ensure that this continues, we are looking to appoint a new Private Sector Housing Technician to play a key part in our Private Sector Housing team.

It will be up to you to ensure that all private sector housing in the borough is maintained to the highest possible standard. You’ll respond to resident complaints and conduct initial investigations and report on required actions to maintain all properties and keep them in line with relevant statutory requirements and council policy.

Your work will contribute directly to the overall performance of the Private Sector Housing team and their ability to meet statutory and local targets.

This role requires a keen eye for detail and outstanding communication skills. You’ll need to bring experience of working in a similarly regulatory or procedural role and a sound understanding of construction technology. You’ll also need to clearly understand the common risks associated with building defects.

At Welwyn Hatfield, we recognise that people work best when working as part of a team. It’s therefore essential that you are someone who recognises the value of being a team player, the goals you share and the best ways to achieve them together.

You’ll also bring diligence and passion to your work that will provide consistency and a drive for always doing a great job. We also want someone who wants to learn and grow, taking the opportunities to develop in their role and progress in their career.

We very much believe that when someone joins Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, we’re not just taking them, but their whole family too. For this reason, we have put together a benefits package that provides for all of you. Whether this be by safeguarding your health and happiness or ensuring that you have a proper work life balance that allows you to enjoy your time outside of work.

Closing date for application is 23 February 2020.

Assessments and interviews will be held on 4 March 2020.
