Sessional Child Care Officer

Sessional Child Care Workers

We provide high quality care and support for children with learning difficulties/disabilities and their families.

About you
We are looking for sessional child care workers to join our team, working with the children, who receive short breaks within our range of services.
You will be experienced and have a good understanding of the needs of children with learning difficulties/disabilities, some of whom may at times display challenging behaviour; and be knowledgeable about the issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
You will receive a full and comprehensive training programme as part of your induction, and ongoing training and supervision. You are required to be trained to Residential Childcare NVQ level 3 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this.

About the role
As a sessional worker you will work alongside the Child Care Officers to ensure that the children’s views and wishes are listened to and needs met, as well as contributing to the smooth and effective running of the service. You will be working flexible hours and at times, provide annual leave or sickness cover, within a 24 hour rota. Regular work is not guaranteed, as you will be part of a ‘bank’ of staff who we can contact to cover shifts, although some regular shifts may be available.

The role also requires all staff to be trained to Residential Childcare (NVQ) level 3 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this.

We are also actively recruiting Short Break Carers and Foster Carers within Wokingham; please contact us on the number below, for more information.

Interview Date: Tuesday 11th March 2020

The role also requires all staff to be trained to Residential Childcare (NVQ) level 3 or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this.

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and requires all staff, other workers and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates for this role will be subject to Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks along with other relevant employment checks.
