Environmental Health Officer – Environmental Protection team

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Environmental Protection team here at Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council as an Environmental Health Officer.

Reporting to the EP Team Manager the post holder is responsible for the day to day running of their allocated geographic area, with regard to Environmental Protection functions, primarily the investigation of statutory nuisances and authorisation of the Environmental Permitting regime.  The location of the borough provides a genuinely interesting mix of urban and rural environments and there are excellent opportunities for partnership working with colleagues across Kent.

You will be degree qualified in Environmental Health, EHORB registered and a current member of the CIEH, and ideally have a range of experience within the EP field of practise. Applications will be considered from final year Batchelor and Master students due to graduate by the summer of 2020.

You must be a confident driver with access to your own car as the post requires regular daily travel around the Borough, a generous car user allowance is payable.  We encourage flexible working and offer flexitime to our staff as well as home and mobile working practises.

Our offices are located in the new settlement of Kings Hill, a major contemporary redevelopment of a famous RAF base, near to the historic town of West Malling, that now has 3,000 new homes together with one of the most successful business parks in the South East. It is a superb place to work, with easy access and parking, the vibrant business and residential community enjoys shops, restaurants, leisure and transport links which are outstanding for a rural location. Its success is underpinned by the concept of 'placemaking' which has shaped an alluring destination where people live, work and play. For more information on Kings Hill
