Specialist Youth Support Worker - Brighter Futures for Chilren

29.6 hours per week (4 days per week)

Brighter Futures for Children is an independent, not-for-profit-company, wholly owned by Reading Borough Council. Our responsibility is to deliver quality children's services, early help, education and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) services to children and families in Reading.

You will work as part of the specialist youth support team providing services for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 years for those with LDD).

You will be based at Whitley Health Centre, 268 Northumberland Avenue, Reading, RG2 7PJ.

You will support young people requiring expert support due to specialist issues e.g. alcohol and drug misuse and exploitation e.g. criminal and or sexual exploitation.

You will provide effective tier 2 and 3 drug & alcohol education and information and assist and support individuals to reduce and minimise the harm associated with their drug and alcohol use and/or other risky behaviour.

You will ensure the voice of the young person is heard and directly influences the design and delivery of services.

The role is busy and varied and includes working with a caseload of young people who exhibit a range of challenges who may resist engagement – there may be a requirement to work intensively over a period of time with some young people.
