Are you highly experienced with working with young people with a disability?

Birmingham Children’s Trust are looking for enthusiastic and committed members of staff to provide support and care to young people with disabilities who are staying at the home.  You will support children with their daily lives including activities, personal development and personal care and be committed to the rights of young people.

You will have effective communication and counselling skills, coupled with an understanding of the needs and rights of young people who are looked after.  The ability to work shifts, including some weekends as part of a rota to include public holidays is essential.

Our Residential Services comprises of four Children’s Homes that offer a range of short breaks and long term residential care for disabled children aged between 5 and 18 years.

The service provides care for children with learning disabilities including Autism; they may also display associated challenging behaviour and have health conditions that need managing.

Our long-term service offers a supportive environment where children can mature in to adulthood, whether it’s moving on to independence or transitioning in to adult care.

Our short-term break service gives families a break from caring and children a caring environment which is fun and exciting to stay.

Working as part of a team, you will be accountable for the quality of day-to-day care; administration and organisation of the Children’s Home.  You will assist in formulating Assessments, Placement Plans, Care Plans and Pathway Plans (where applicable) for each child or young person and formulate clear aims and objectives for each child/young person as necessary.

As well as the above, you will support the Home/Deputy Manager in identified tasks of the homes management.

We would welcome visits to the homes by applicants. Please contact managers to arrange.
