We are seeking to recruit 2 full time employees to our Waste and Recycling Team. We are looking for reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals, to assist in the delivery of waste collection, within a very high-profile service.

The work can be varied and interesting and it is essential that you can appreciate the important contribution these services have in improving our local environment and the image of the area.  You must possess good communication skills, have the ability to undertake a range of duties and be a quick learner, undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision.  You will be required to work both as part of a team and on your own. You will work in adverse weather conditions and you will handle waste.

Although not essential, it would be an added advantage if you hold a current driving licence with a 7.5 tonne entitlement. Full training will be given to the successful candidates. You must be physically fit and able to undertake a range of duties and heavy manual work, including the collection of refuse and recycling. A willingness to train and use a wide variety of vehicles and equipment is essential.

These posts are 37 hours per week, based at White Lund Depot, Morecambe.  Hours of work will be over 4 days, 7.00 am to 4.45 pm. You must be flexible, as early morning, evening and weekend work are required. On occasion you may be required to work from 6.00 am and may also be required to work until 6.00 pm. The successful candidates will be required to work extra “catch-up” day to compensate for every bank holiday as directed by the Operations Manager.  Such days will normally be either the Saturday immediately before the bank holiday or the Saturday immediately after the bank holiday, although in some circumstances you may be required to work the bank holiday.

Please note the Council is currently reviewing its pay and grading structure and the salary may be subject to change.

Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
