The Licensing Partnership, originally formed in 2010, joined the licensing services of Sevenoaks, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and (in 2016) London Borough of Bexley. A central processing team handling applications and related licensing work for all four are based at Sevenoaks, and each partner has their own team of officers who deal with contentious applications, oversight of the processing, compliance, enforcement and policy work. The role will involve occasional out of hours compliance work.
We use an online application system (Victoria Forms) and Idox/Uniform as our database. We are constantly striving ahead with tech to help deliver smarter working.
We are fortunate enough to have some of the best officers across the partnership most of whom have many years of experience. They are loyal and committed and are a wealth of knowledge - we encourage regular meetings for shared learning and joint decision making.
Following a restructure of the central processing team which intoduced development opportunities, we were lucky enough to appoint one of our existing officers from the Sevenoaks licensing team to the newly created position of Licensing Partnership Manager (managing the central processing team and occasionally deputising for the Head of the Licensing Partnership).
Following that recent promotion of one of our officers, an opportunity has arisen to join the Licensing Team working for Sevenoaks District Council as a Senior Licensing Officer.
We are budgeted for full time hours, we will consider applicants who may only want to do part time hours or job share. Please state this on your application if your interest is part time hours. A car allowance is also payable.
Ideally you will have experience of working within licensing and have an in depth knowledge of taxi licensing and / or premises licensing. Key aspects of the role are:
- to take the lead on contentious licence applications (including events & music festivals), writing and presenting committee reports
- complaint investigations and taking appropriate enforcement action when needed
- review of policies (including consultation and referral to Members)
This would suit someone currently working within local government Licensing looking for the next step in their career or an existing officer looking to relocate.
As a Platinum Award winning Investors in People employer - the first council and public sector employer to be accredited with this award - we will provide appropriate training and development opportunities for this role. In particular, you will be encouraged to to attend training courses and conferences should you wish (such as those run by Institute of Licensing orLocal Government Association) which can also help you develop your networks.
Based at Argyle Road in Sevenoaks, working at the very heart of the Council, we can offer you an excellent benefits package that includes up to 29 days annual leave (with an additional five days depending on length of local government service), the flexibility of buying or selling additional leave, pension scheme, tax free childcare scheme and discounted membership at council leisure facilities. We also offer an Assisted Car Purchase Scheme of up to £10,000, and access to season ticket loans for travel on national rail services up to £5,000.
Details of the range of staff benefits offered can be seen in the document attached.
