The new Buyer Function will support all of the Council’s requirements to procure required products, works and services. As such you will be a key player in ensuring the Council Directorates are able to supply greatly needed services to the residents of Central Bedfordshire. The role supports the strategic objectives of enabling internal service areas to establish and deliver their strategies through the buying services that you will provide. So, find your greatness and in this fast moving and dynamic team.
You will ensure purchase orders are created and maintained to meet the needs identified and received from service areas. You will support requisitioners and challenge where needed. You will identify best value suppliers from existing preferred routes to market and source new suppliers where needed. You will be motivated and keep and maintain accurate records. Training will be provided on both procedures and specific IT programmes.
Technical competence, and some knowledge/ understanding of procurement related legislation is desirable, though more importantly, an interest and willingness to learn about the purchase order and sourcing processes. For the right individual, further development and support will be provided in order to progress a career in Procurement.
