Project Officer (Innovation and Sector Development)

Following launch of the Local Industrial Strategy, WECA recently established its Innovation and Sector Development Team. We are driving Cross-sectoral Innovation as a priority set out in our strategy, supporting clean and inclusive economic growth and making a real change to the lives of the residents in our region. We work with our colleagues across the combined authority and its constituent local authorities, and with the region’s diverse and exciting innovation ecosystem, including its universities, and businesses and organisations of all sizes. Being brand new within the authority’s Business and Skills Directorate, we are developing our team’s ways of working both internally and externally while at the same time implementing the innovation and sector development agenda across the region.

This is where you come in. We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced colleague to work within our friendly and growing team.

You don’t need to be an innovation specialist (yet) – it’s your sustained focus on the impact of your work, and your curiosity regarding innovation in economic and sector development, that will really set you apart in this. You will be a confident communicator, with the ability to produce engaging and attractive reports and presentations to get the team’s message across to a diverse audience. You will be passionate about researching and analysing the facts that underpin the team’s decision making, and keen to support funding bids and delivery of programmes.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! For an informal chat, please contact Dagmar Steffens, Head of Innovation and Sector Development, on 0785 551 5559, and to apply, please click below
